And then he ran into my knife....he ran into my knife 10 times!

If feminine rage were a novel, this would be it.

7.5/10

'How To Kill Men And Get Away With It' expressed every frustration I’ve ever had with men. Every suppressed eye roll, every hidden cringe and every sarcastic (though funny and accurate) thought. Katy Brent perfectly captures the conflict between ‘man-hating’ and loving the supportive #notallmen men in your life. For those who will inevitably miss the point and shriek ‘but the plot holes! She’d never have gotten away with it’, I will point out that it is FICTION (I hope) and remind them that when you pick up a book about a Chelsea socialite who goes on a killing spree, you’re expected to suspend disbelief somewhat. It’s all very ‘Promising Young Woman’, minus the naughty nurse costume. Brent’s debut novel is dark, twisted and sometimes downright rage-inducing, but also manages to be completely hilarious and even heart-warming at times. No, it’s probably not the best thing I’ve read this year, but it is definitely one of the most relatable and cathartic. You'd think, given the title, you'd know essentially how it ends, but that didn't stop my heart from racing every time someone got close to figuring it out. It even has a pretty juicy plot twist at the end! One hundred per cent worth the £8.99 and Saturday afternoon I spent on it.
